  The Basalt & Rural Fire Protection District    encompasses an area of 492 square miles,    and is one of the largest fire districts in    Colorado. The District spans Highway 82    from mile marker 18 to 30 and follows the    Frying Pan Road east to the Continental    Divide.    

   The department maintains four fire stations:    Snowmass, Basalt, Thomasville, and El Jebel. Each station is equipped with a four- wheel-drive ambulance and various fire response trucks.

The Basalt & Rural Fire Protection District is made up of nearly 80 members including the Board of Directors, the District's Attorney and Physician Advisor, the Fire Chief, Deputy Chiefs, Operations Director, Fire Officers, EMS Shift Captains, Fire Marshal, Administrative Manager, Fleet Mechanic, Firefighters, EMS Personnel, Fire Inspector, Administrative Assistant, and numerous Volunteers.

  • Medical qualifications: 44 Medically Trained Personnel (12 Advanced Life Support Personnel)
